ABOUT DER WURSTWAGEN
Der Wurstwagen (German for “the sausage cart”) serves authentic German street food primarily throughout Metro Detroit, with select events across Michigan. Our menu includes Bratwurst and Knackwurst served on European-style Brötchen with German mustard, Currywurst with house curry ketchup, Weißwurst, Bavarian pretzels, Bavarian cabbage, and seasonal specialties such as Rotkohl.

HISTORY
Der Wurstwagen opened on German American Day, Oct. 6th, 2023 and is owned by German-trained Chef Brian. Brian has a long history as a chef, having been classically trained in German cuisine and European and French fine dining. In the Detroit area, some may know him as a former Chef de Cuisine of Essen on Main (Royal Oak) or Carpathia Club (Sterling Heights), or as a Chef de Partie at Bistro 82 (Royal Oak). In Germany, he completed his 3-year culinary apprenticeship program and also worked a number of years at various fine dining restaurants and caterers in the Wuppertal and Remscheid area, including a Michelin restaurant.
